A new 34-storey Toronto Condo Hotel project in the Distillery District is running in to opposition from the city.
A total of 88 suites and 246 Condominium units are planned for this historic area.
Surprisingly the developers want to stack the Condo tower on top of a six-storey rack house, a heritage building dating back to 1875. The rack house itself would be turned into a boutique hotel.
The city is asking the builders to make significant revisions to the scale of the project in regards to the proposed height and density.
The location and overall size and the shadow cast by a tall building were the main concerns.
There are other tall Distillery District Condo towers in the area including The Pure Spirit Condos and Lofts at 33 Mill Street and two others 40-storeys and 37-storeys that are now under construction.
Other similar Condos available for sale in the area- St Lawrence Market Condos.
